Questions

Short, honest answers.

Is TsureruKana free?

Yes. It's free on Google Play.

Is there an iPhone version?

Not yet. TsureruKana is on Android today and an iPhone version is coming soon. Until then, our guide to the six lakes covers what to fish for and when.

Which lakes and areas does it cover?

Lake Biwa, Kasumigaura, Saroma, Ogawara, Inawashiro and Suwa, saltwater areas around Japan, tide tables for about 240 ports, and any spot you save yourself.

Does a high score guarantee fish?

No. The score is an estimate built from environmental data. It tells you whether conditions look better or worse than usual, and a "poor" day can still give you your best catch of the year. The moon is the weakest input on the four freshwater lakes, for the reasons in how moon phase affects your bite window. Check it alongside the weather, not instead of it.

How accurate are the tide times for Saroma and Ogawara?

The tables are for ports. The tide inside a lagoon can run later and smaller than at the port outside, so treat the times as approximate. More in the Lake Saroma and Lake Ogawara guides.

Where does the data come from?

Weather data comes from Open-Meteo.com, and tide predictions are based on the Japan Meteorological Agency's tide tables. If you use your current location, the app uses it for that forecast and doesn't track it in the background.
